Adjusting the temperature measured on the FRITZ! radiator control
Since the temperature is measured on your radiator control, for example FRITZ!Smart Thermo 302, it may be warmer or colder elsewhere in the room. You can easily set the deviation from the actual room temperature that you measure with a thermometer in the middle of the room, for example, as the 'offset'. As an alternative, you can use the smart switch FRITZ! 440 as an external temperature sensor and position it at a suitable place in the room to measure the temperature, for example next to the sofa.
Requirements / Restrictions
- To use FRITZ!DECT 440 as an external temperature sensor, FRITZ!OS 7.10 or later must be installed on the FRITZ!Box.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
1 Setting the temperature offset
The temperature of a room is very different in different areas, especially during the heating phase. The time it takes for heat to distribute evenly depends on the ceiling height or the presence of niches and bay windows, for example, and can vary greatly. Therefore, do not set the offset until the room was constantly heated to the desired room temperatures for about 2 days so that the heat could be almost evenly distributed throughout the room:
Important:The temperature at the device itself can vary greatly because of fluctuations due to time of day, for example occasional exposure to sunlight or reduced ventilation, heating up of the device, etc. The deviation between the temperature at the device itself and the actual room temperature is therefore not constant. The offset cannot be used to take variable temperature fluctuations into account.
- Click on 'Smart Home' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'Device Management' or 'Devices and Groups' in the 'Smart Home' menu.
- Click on the
(Edit) button for the respective device.
- Under 'Temperature Offset', click on the plus or minus to set the actual room temperature.
- Click on 'OK' or 'Apply' to save the settings.
2 Using a different temperature sensor
We recommend using FRITZ!DECT 440 or FRITZ!Smart Control 440 as an external temperature sensor because you can position them at the most suitable place in the room to measure the temperature:
Note:Smart plugs, for example FRITZ!Smart Energy 200 or a FRITZ!DECT Repeater, can also measure the temperature. Note, however, that sockets you have to plug these devices into are usually in unfavourable places for measuring the room temperature, for example in corners of rooms or near the floor. These areas of the room are usually unsuitable places to use external temperature sensors.
Using a temperature sensor
- Position smart switch FRITZ! 440 at a suitable place in the room for measuring temperature, for example next to the sofa.
- Do not operate any devices near the smart switch FRITZ! 440 that produce warmth.
Selecting the temperature sensor
- Click on 'Smart Home' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'Device Management' or 'Devices and Groups' in the 'Smart Home' menu.
- Click on the
(Edit) button for the respective radiator control.
- Under 'Temperature Offset' enable the option 'Adjust to automatic offset by means of an external temperature sensor'.
- Select the desired temperature from the drop-down list.
- Click on 'OK' or 'Apply' to save the settings.
