Behaviour of the FRITZ! smart plug in case of power or internet outage

If you are using smart home devices, for example FRITZ!Smart Energy 200, FRITZ!Smart Thermo 302, or the LED light FRITZ!DECT 500, you can specify how the smart home device is switched after a restart, for example after an update or a power outage.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Behaviour of the smart home device during an interruption

If the FRITZ!Box loses power, or if there is no internet connection, or if the DECT connection is interrupted, the settings of the smart home devices remain intact, but automatic switching of the devices is limited. For example, routines can no longer be triggered and access via FRITZ!App Smart Home is not possible. The switching modes 'sunrise/sunset' and 'calendar' are also only executed for 7 days or for a maximum of 40 calendar entries. If there is still no power, or no DECT or internet connection, this switching will not continue.

A properly functioning FRITZ!Box with an internet connection and an existing connection to the smart home device are required for smooth and correct operation.

2 Specifying the switching state of the smart home device after an interruption

You can specify the switching state for smart home devices after a FRITZ!Box restart, for example after a power outage or installing an update:

  1. Click on 'Smart Home' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Devices and Groups' in the 'Smart Home' menu.
  3. Click on the (Edit) button for the respective smart home device.
  4. If you selected an LED light, click on the 'Light Setting' tab.
  5. Enable the desired option under 'Switching state'.
  6. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
