Occasional restarts: Several LEDs on the FRITZ!Repeater flash

The FRITZ!Repeater restarts occasionally. When this happens, several LEDs flash continuously. It restarts a few times a week, several times a day, or when specific events or actions occur, for example, but not constantly.

Important:If the FRITZ!Repeater constantly restarts, proceed as described in in this guide.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Repeater.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Installing the latest FRITZ!OS

  1. Install the latest FRITZ!OS on the FRITZ!Repeater.

2 Using the correct power adapter

Using an unsuitable power adapter is one of the most common causes of error:

  1. Use a suitable power adapter to plug in your FRITZ!Repeater.

3 Configuring file sharing software

The following steps are only necessary if you are using file sharing software (such as eMule, BitTorrent):

  1. In the file sharing software, decrease the number of simultaneous connections that are allowed.

4 Checking the FRITZ!Repeater's settings

Saving settings

Loading the factory settings

Checking the settings

  1. Reconfigure the basic functions of the FRITZ!Repeater.
  2. Check whether the problem still occurs.
  3. If the problem no longer occurs, completely reconfigure the FRITZ!Repeater. The FRITZ!Repeater's settings were incorrect.
    • If the problem still occurs, restore the FRITZ!Repeater's settings.

5 Enabling the automatic sending of error reports

If you configure your FRITZ!Repeater to send error reports automatically, we can use the data we receive to eliminate the occurrence of sudden restarts in a future FRITZ!OS update, if the cause is reproducible and one we can eliminate. The error reports do not contain any personal information such as passwords or account information:

  1. Click "Internet" in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater (Mesh Master).
  2. Click "Account Information" in the "Internet" menu.
  3. Click on the "AVM Services" tab.
  4. Enable the option "Diagnostics data".
  5. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
