Registering a cordless phone with the FRITZ!Box

You want to register a cordless phone with the FRITZ!Box? ✔ Here we show you how to easily connect your DECT phone.

You can register cordless phones from different manufacturers with your FRITZ!Box. Simply use the wizard in the FRITZ!Box user interface or your phone's menu to register them. You can register a FRITZ!Fon with up to four FRITZ!Boxes and switch the active base station if needed via 'Menu > Settings > Registration > Select Base'.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • A maximum of six cordless phones can be registered with the FRITZ!Box.
  • The cordless phone must support the DECT-GAP profile.

    Note:DECT-GAP is a widely used standard for cordless phones that is supported by all FRITZ!Fon models.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Using the FRITZ!Box wizard to register a phone

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Telephony Devices' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Configure New Device' button.
  4. Enable the option 'Telephone (with or without answering machine)' and click on 'Next'.
  5. Enable the option 'Cordless (DECT) telephone' and click on 'Next'.
  6. Start the registration procedure on the phone, then click "Next" and follow the instructions.
  7. If you are asked to enter the PIN, enter the FRITZ!Box's four-digit PIN on the phone and confirm it with 'OK'.

    Note:You only have to enter the PIN if you changed the preconfigured PIN '0000' in the FRITZ!Box user interface in the menu 'Telephony > DECT > Base Station'. When using the wizard to register phones, you do not have to push any buttons on the FRITZ!Box.

2 Using the phone's menu to register a phone

Registering FRITZ!Fon

  1. Switch the phone on and press the right select key 'Register'. If 'Register' is not displayed above the right select key:
    1. Press the 'Menu' key.
    2. Select the menu item 'Settings' and press 'OK'.
    3. 'Registration' > 'Register' > 'OK'
  2. Within 2 minutes: Push the Connect button on the FRITZ!Box. Hold down the button for about 1 second until the Connect LED starts to flash. The FRITZ!Box is in registration mode as long as the LED flashes. Other LEDs may also flash.
  3. If you are asked to enter the PIN, enter the FRITZ!Box's four-digit PIN on the phone and confirm it with 'OK'.

    Note:You only have to enter the PIN if you changed the preconfigured PIN '0000' in the FRITZ!Box user interface in the menu 'Telephony > DECT > Base Station'.

Registering a cordless phone from another manufacturer

  1. Set your phone to registration mode. The procedure depends on the phone you are using. Refer to the manufacturer of the device for information on how to set it up, for example consult the manual.
  2. Push the Connect button on the FRITZ!Box. Hold down the button for about 1 second until the Connect LED starts to flash. The FRITZ!Box is in registration mode as long as the LED flashes. Other LEDs may also flash.
  3. If you are asked to enter the PIN, enter the FRITZ!Box's four-digit PIN on the phone and confirm it with 'OK'. The PIN '0000' is preconfigured in the menu 'Telephony > DECT > Base Station' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
