It is possible to use the FRITZ!Box as a wireless repeater with an existing FRITZ!Box. If both of the FRITZ!Box models support FRITZ!Mesh, you can configure the FRITZ!Box as a Mesh Repeater. However, it cannot be used as a wireless repeater with a router from another manufacturer because there is no manufacturer-independent Mesh standard yet, and the manufacturer-independent WDS (Wireless Distribution System) method is obsolete and not supported by the FRITZ!Box.

If you want to extend the Wi-Fi range of a router from another manufacturer, you can use a FRITZ!Repeater. FRITZ!Repeaters behave like conventional wireless devices towards wireless routers and can therefore be used with all commmercially available routers.
