FRITZ!Box reports "Enter a maximum of 32 characters" after entering the FRITZ!Box password

Since updating to FRITZ!OS 7.50, login to the user interface with a password fails. When you attempt to log into the user interface, the following error message is displayed:

  • "Enter a maximum of 32 characters"

1 Using a shorter password

The FRITZ!Box only supports passwords up to 32 characters long. Before the update, it was also possible to log into the FRITZ!Box user interface with a longer password because FRITZ!Box discarded the extra characters after they were entered:

  1. When logging in, only enter the first 32 characters of the password for the user interface.
